Who will it be? - vs Kamo
Sometimes word can’t describe it. In our 20th game of the season, Callum worked tirelessly to continue what has been 20 top performances for his team, this one however a pretty special match. Like an aircraft carrier, the warfare unloaded, sending his jets scrambling to dismantle the breakways, and unleash the long-range laser-seeking launcher.
Running the new reverse mohawk, the boy who could teach the Trump a few things about how to put up a wall, had a game a terrific, brilliant, stunning bunch of saves. Up against the WHS First XI, the lime green radioactive robo suit that has caused severe hair loss, Zach mutated himself into a feirce goal protecting monster.
Ollie with his new xtreme bow worked wing weaving magic. A player that puts everything into his game, he was outstanding today and many comments fired from the supporters about the quality of his play! Silky smooth dribbling turning oppenents inside out. Love your game Ollie!
Well done to Ethan who played his first school match at AIMS level! Showing up when we needed subs, he took his chance and got stuck straight in with a dominating tackle. Heaps of work and great we all got to play alongside Ethan after spending so much time training together. See you next year.
Epa Ran Shop. He was brilliant, calling the play, setting up the left hand side, strining ball with the defense unit, and mopping up the messy play. Up front he kept the pressure on, injected quality PC’s. Serious about his team, he’s lifting the game and will be looking for a massive AIMS tournament.
Bone crusher came down to watch, and during a messy second half, there was a dominant performance that didn’t produce results, but Malcolm was there and giving everything he could to get this team going. He shows how much the Parents of this team desperately want you guys to get the show on the road. Malcolm is relentless in his support for this team, filming, helping coach, prepared to step up, and if he could transform to a school kid again he would be the shining example of a terrier, going 100% to secure the ball, taking any little sniff of an opportunity, never prepared to surrender. Dog-tractor, Malcolm!
Ben had a blinding game tonight making a big step up in power and protection of the ball. Feed wide, fed back, fed though. The defence unit worked wonders to put him in position, he came from nowhere, pounced on oppositions breaks, hassled, dug his teeth in, and kept distributing wide, kept protecting the ball and kept popping up from outa nowhere.
The highlight of the night will be the super reverse Zach planted top bins. Being a keeper himself he knows the strike zone & how to blast them past. The game then bought out another highlight, the way Zach sucked up the call, and got on with it. Unbeleivable self respect, humble, sportsmanship. Mix that up with the way he stiches plays together and sets the lads up, it was a honour to award Zach the dog-tractor this week.
Expect a 5 week venture to the Austrian homeland could cause a bit of rust, nope. Fast, all over the ball, cutting inside, distributing and sinking a fast slap into the goal.
Speed spins, combat battles, off-loads, work-rate. Its getting better and better from Epa. Hearing the match report, you took it to our girls, showed them the game is class, style and non-stop hard work.
After an epic game of hockey, its was the skeleton that rattled tonight, each of you got massive comments said about your game from Matt. Everyone got their job done, and some super goals were hammered home. Zach (2), Kavya (2), Harry, Callum and Epa on the scoresheet together with a double strike from Bryn (2) who began ringing his cash register for goals this season!
Patrick played half game as defence, and most of half a game on attack. He looked strong in both situations and was unlucky not to steal a goal with some tricky stickword around the goalmouth.
It took a while to figure out who earnt the dog-tractor, but when you think about who got their job done tonight, it was Luke. 2/2 Saves, a shut-out on debut. Luke not only is the first to win the dog-tractor twice, he went back-to-back with the award. Good slides, good saves!
It what was a game that didn’t bring much magic, Luke bought the fight and the muscle running from various positions. When Luke gets the ball he considers two things, beating the player or finding someone to pass to. He got the team passing out of defence, and passing on the counter attack. He tackles back hard during a turnover, and works in a circle of about 20 m, if the ball enters that circle he’s going for it, or crushing the space of that who does. Good match Luke! Dog-tractor-Goat of any mountain steep enough award!
Patrik scored out goal. It was reward for long fight the team sustained. He started the game on defence and put up some massive plays, finding it hard though to clear the Otamotai wall but crashing it with all he had. Switched into Centre Forward he made a rapid strike that swept through everything in its path. The game higlight.
Harry had his 5th straight game for the team which he dominated. He gets tonights award, not for the best game he’s played, because he was again the most consistently brilliant player. Good stuff Harry, slick slippery skills and massive boost when you hit the gas.
Kavya left nothing behind in the circle, three goals scored and a heap more pick-ups, carries and deflects. Some very good stick skills on attack and a swift tackle. Kavya, the skills and intensity tonight was fantastic.
Ashley pulled of a run up the right wing that began dodging through 4 defenders before driving a centre pass into the waiting attackers. A super move. In the second half he laid everything on the line, rushed half a dozen strikes, and cleared from defence frontstick and backstick. An ultra performance from Ash!
Oroz put us up in the first minutes of the game. Instant strike. He followed that up with two more classy goals to get the seasons first hatrick. Controlled while being terrorized on attack by Ngai and Epas brothers. Solid game Oroz, after the dedicated practice thats been happening, you turns that into your goals tonight.
Aakiwa was first to recieve player of the day, and scored the first competition goal of the season. Up against the Opotiki opponents he worked little moves that caused them to panic, put a beautiful ball across the face of the goal, almost got a quick wind up away in the circle and marked his man all game long on defense.
